![]() Do you find yourself putting things off more these days? Just not getting things done? A fellow lockdown friend across town recently told me that she has become the queen of procrastination. I started laughing because I could relate! And I hadn’t even realized it... This is one of the marks of stress that we’re living under right now. Sure, I’m getting out a little more, but, I’m still feeling very cautious and constrained. On purpose. I neither want to get sick nor share any potential sickness with others. Sometimes it's hard to look on the bright side even when things are going fairly well. When you're going through tough times, gaining the "glass is half full" mentality can be a feat in Itself! Don't Get Overwhelmed When you're in the middle of a stressful situation, it's important to disallow over-anxiousand over-analyzed thoughts. You really don't want to overwhelm yourself with an over-stimulated mind because the added stress will only strain your mind further and you'll find it nearly impossible to think positively. Write Them Down Really, you probably know that. It feels so good to get it out of your head, onto paper, and onto a list. A list that you can cross things off of once they’re done. Practice That Breathing Sit down in a comfortable space. Consciously breathe in through your nose from the bottom of your belly to the top of your head. Hold it just a moment or two. Breathe it out through your nose with a whoosh. Do that four more times. Claim that calm that comes with slowing yourself down. Sending you love from my heart.

If you are feeling like your heart hurts (literally and figuratively), or you feel like you can’t get all the love out of your heart and into the world that you would like to see…
Then, find a beautiful picture of a red or dark pink peony or a red lotus. Maybe print it off of your computer or find one in a magazine. Place it near your bed, or your desk, or by your coffee cup. Somewhere that you can see it on a regular basis. Let your eyes rest in its beauty. Soak in its richness. And FEEL its healing strength. Go beyond thinking to feeling. Open your heart area to receive the beauty and color of those flowers as they unfold for you. Here’s an intention you could meditate on for yourself as you gaze on the beauty of the peony or red lotus flower: Do you know the peony and the lotus flower? They’re specifically selected as having the energies in tune with the heart energy center in your body. Today I intend that I will grow, expand, and strengthen the love energy of my heart center just as the peony and lotus flowers unfold their beauty and fragrance for the world. Sending you love from my heart to yours. ![]() Does color affect your mood? In case you haven’t noticed, restaurants know this, too. That’s why you’ll notice they have yellow or orange or reds because they stimulate you to eat more, drink more, and spend more. Green has been shown to increase creativity. So, if you have an office or meeting space where you need good thoughts flowing, make sure there is some green: plants, walls, pictures, anything. As humans, we have seven main energy centers, each with a different color frequency that goes with it. I think of ROYGBIV: starting at the bottom chakra with red, then orange, then yellow, green (heart), blue, indigo, and violet for your crown. Here are my three tips:

Have you chosen colors, art, textures, and furniture with which to surround yourself that inspire you in certain ways? In these days of anxiety, distress, and upset, it is even more comforting to be in a home that reflects our higher selves and brings us calm. My current home has lots of white, almost too much. I look out onto the Andaman Sea which is also often white with the clouds and bright sun melting into the water. added a plethora of colors; reds, greens, blues, yellows, fuchsias, with pictures of birds, trees, and flowers. And young ones flying by on bicycles and moonbeams in the skies. For now, it suits me. And it counteracts the whiteness and brightness of the walls, furniture, and sea. Someday, maybe, I will change to something else...but not yet. So far, the colors calm me while giving me a smile and some joy at their brightness. Our surroundings influence how we feel. Today’s thought for you: sit by yourself in a room and sense with your soul whether it looks and feels like you want it to look and feel.
I know that I need my surroundings to calm my soul and sometimes to enhance my creativity. If you’re feeling anxious, out-of-sorts, and worried and want to move to calm, confidence, and clarity...then I invite you to take my course that I’ve called, “Calm Your Soul to Refresh Your Life.” Sending you love from my heart. ![]() Does color affect your mood? Here are my three tips: If you’re feeling uncertain about your future, insecure in your housing situation, unsure about your place in the world...choose RED for your bottom chakra. Wear more red, look at red flowers, put up a poster of beautiful red scenes. It will help you feel grounded to earth’s loving energy If you’re ready to make some change, aren’t certain of where to go with that, and can “feel” life change tingling inside you but it remains elusive...then choose ORANGE for your 2nd chakra or energy center. Wear orange clothes, eat on orange plates, look at orange pictures, or eat oranges if you can. It will enhance and strengthen that part of you. An idea is taking shape for you. Now you need the self-confidence, organizational skills, and courage to make it come alive. Then, choose YELLOW to look at, to wear, to eat, to enjoy around you. Those are my three tips today. Tomorrow we’ll talk about when to use the other energy center colors to strengthen different parts of your life. Family board games, like Clue (remember Mr. Green, the rope, in the library) or, pinochle or bridge, or online word games with friends? Jogging, playing tag, tickling and snuggling and giggling? I see that friends of mine are putting puzzles together. YouTube and Facebook show whole families putting together broadway musical scenes (to the delight of many of us online). Imagine the fun they’re having at seeing their number of likes skyrocket! Another family put up an obstacle course through the family room, marked out with masking tape, for the kids (and dogs?!) to run through. To their never-ending delight. Others are taking advantage of the free views of national museums and the national park system. Or try out some of the easy science experiments that are found online or in a book on your shelf. Make a date with the grand kids to read stories online while you show them pictures. (Easier done with a holder for the cellphone…). Just make it fun, laugh at yourself. Laugh at the silliness and the chance to do something together. If you’re having a hard time remembering what fun and play look like, go back to a happier time of your childhood or later years, too, and re-feel that sensation of fun and play. Remember it. Imagine it. Recreate the feeling. Our minds and bodies (science tells us) can’t distinguish from the strong thought about something and the actual doing of it. Those light-hearted feelings will brighten your day and raise your internal vibrational level. And, that, my friends, means better health for you and for those around you. So…what will you do for play today? :) Sending you love from my heart. ![]() A few things I’ve learned over the years have made all the difference in my life. One thing I’ve learned is to get good, sound guidance from good teachers. Among many, I’ve so appreciated the work of Donna Eden and David Feinstein over the years. She and David developed Eden Energy Medicine that is available online and through local practitioners. Donna was at death’s door and had no traditional medical recourse to live out her life. So she turned to ancient traditions that taught about energy meridians, the energy body, and more. Slowly but surely, by practicing these ancient energy disciplines, Donna was returned to beautiful health. These ancient traditions are showing themselves to have scientific basis now as they are studied in the western world. The other thing I’ve learned is everything is a practice. And a practice can become a habit that is healthy or a habit that holds you back from moving forward in life. So here is something that I have added to my life over the past year or so and that has helped keep my energy systems strong. And, if I don’t do the practice, I don’t reap the benefit of the practice. Just saying. Click here to learn and practice Donna Eden’s Daily Energy Routine. And third, I’ve learned to trust myself (more). That wasn’t always so, I can assure you. All too often, I found myself listening to the teachers (see above) more than believing I had something to say, something to add, something to give. And I decided I didn’t want that in my life anymore. So I slowly, and a little haphazardly at first, I started practicing my daily meditation, gratitude, intentions, and I soon came to see what mattered to me in life. That led me to trusting myself more. Listening to my inner voice. Are you in that same boat? Especially when we are confronted on a daily basis with our own mortality. I know from my coaching work that we often don’t find our own strength within ourselves. But that’s what we yearn for. A trust and confidence within ourselves. To find our peace, strength, and “I am Enough”-ness within ourselves. And then we’re able to give from that abundance within us, to make the world (our relationships, our families, our places of worship, our communities…) a better place. Still sending you love and blessings from my heart, Denise |
