It was just a few months ago (before I got sick) that I was lying on a massage table here in Penang, and, as the young Cambodian masseuse worked on my back and shoulders, I had this overwhelming urge to be grateful for my body.
Yes, for my body.
Now, this might seem a usual thing that you do, but it had never occurred to me to do this before.
I had just been listening to a discussion about how without our health, we really can't do anything else like we'd like to do. I'd heard that before and had nodded (yawned?) in agreement. And, continued to take my (sacred) body for granted.
But this time was different.
I found myself drawn into a spirit of intense gratitude towards my body for taking care of me so well for all of these years:
I could have negated all this love and instead chastised myself for the extra fat or not-so-great cholesterol numbers or whatever seemed to be a problem for which I can put myself down (in Body Code work, we call that self-abuse). That would be my usual course of thought.
Instead, I chose to appreciate the good that my body and all its parts and systems do so well on a daily basis.
This experience has even changed my morning meditations, especially after my sweet kidney needed attention. During my sickness time, I found myself putting my hand over my kidney and blessing it as it healed; sending it love and light to become all it was designed to be (including working at 100% like it would like to work).
Blessing our body parts is a real thing. I learned from Dr. Bradley Nelson, author of the Body Code and Emotion Code, that our body parts want to do what they were designed to do: to be healthy and whole. I experienced that first hand in February and March. My own body kept identifying stuck energies that wanted to be released, and I was able to do that.
So, I invite you to feel good, too! Here's a challenge to us:
In the next 40 days, everytime you do your gratitudes, your journaling, or your meditations, connect to Spirit and bless your body parts and send them healing love. Be specific and name the body part. FEEL that love. SMILE that love.
As Dr. Joe Dispenza says, "Thoughts are the language of the mind. Feelings are the language of the body."
So speak to your body with love. Then, write down what happens after 40 days of doing this practice and share your reactions with the rest of us.
